Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an improvement in footwork skills for table tennis using the Auto Robo-Pong training aid. The research method used in this study is the experimental method with a true experimental design, and the treatment was administered 14 times. The instrument used to measure the footwork of the sample was the Edgren Side Step Test. This research was conducted on students aged 18-25 who are members of the Table Tennis Student Working Unit at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Sumedang Campus. Sampling was done using the purposive sampling technique. The research results, based on SPSS calculations in the prerequisite test, show a significance value of 0.001 for the experimental group and 0.050 for the control group. Both values are < 0.05, indicating that the data is not normally distributed. Subsequently, a homogeneity test was conducted, showing a significance value of 0.021 < 0.05, indicating that the data is not homogeneous. Therefore, hypothesis testing was performed using a parametric test, namely the Mann-Whitney test. The Mann-Whitney test showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that the use of the auto robopong training aid had an effect on improving footwork skills in table tennis. Conclusion: To improve footwork skills in table tennis, the Auto RoboPong training aid can be used in the training process.
